very sad news indeed wordsmith. man was 1 of my fav bands in early 70s. they played some awesome gigs, like roundhouse in 72 (released as *greasy truckers party*) and made some truly classic albums > *be good to yourself at least once a day* (72), *back into the future* (double live - 73), *maximum darkness* (recorded live, w/ john cipollina - 75-05-26 @ roundhouse, london)... brilliant but underrated artists. true underground

micky was a great guitar player, 1 of the best
RIP

One of those bands only read about in relation to others - now having to discover after the fact. Thanks for the links and RIP. If you crew are into it, must be good.

DAMN. Man were so unappreciated outside of the gang that went to see them with Hawkwind, the Fairys, Broughtons, and the rest, and Mickey was the essential element of what they were doing. Knew he wasn't well, and his son had been filing in for him, but with Deke in poor health as well this could be the end of the road. To our U.S. cousins on this Forum have a listen to some live tracks by Man (including those with John Cippolina guesting) and you'll see what we've lost.

This might drive people 'bananas' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA6ShRmUgCE&;feature=related

At one time my three 'most played' were 'Dark Star', 'Echoes', and 'Spunk Rock' from Greasy Truckers. Perhaps I was just too lazy to get up and change the record, but really I just loved all three.

Just recovered from an afternoon at the Bristol Beer Festival mow I'm off to see a local 'blues' band in a bar. Does life get any better than this ?

Don't think I'd cottoned on that you were in Bristol before. My brother in law lives there and I do sometimes get out that way. Who knows, maybe one day I'll see you in that bar!

I like to eat bananas
'Cos they got no bones
I like marijuana
'Cos it gets me stoned

Put a seed into the ground
Wait for the sun to come around
Nurture it with love and care
Give it sun and rain and air
There, oh there
There, oh
You gotta let it grow
Let it grow
Come on wait for it to sprout
Then you get your Rizlas out

greasy truckers was also 1 of my most played albums, but i listened (and still do) 2 hawkwind side all the time

*live at padget rooms penarth*(72-04-08) was my most played man album by far. wikipedia says that 8000 copies of that album were pressed, but i am pretty sure 1000 is correct number. it costed 10 bob or something
